Well there is a new big boy a brewing in the sniping business and with this new rifle business will be good from infantry to well tanks and perhaps even small pill boxes/bunkers with a muzzle velocity of 3,350 and 42,104 of energy(not a typo)pretty much what ever is in front of it will cease to exist or be taken out of action. its based of the 20mm vulcan shell casing so that should give you hints as to its scale (for comparisons sake 12.7mm is roughly .50 cal) and they claim It has 0.5 MOA accuracy at 3000 yards and remains supersonic out to 5400 yards (5 kilometers). One shot will be at two miles and another at three so if he ends up pulling it off it should be interesting to any long range shooters out there with disposable income.

I would hate to be the guy who had to carry that thing around... The .50 Barret would do me in for a day of humping it around; this thing you would need a pack mule ! Anyone know if they have stealth pack mules now?

The more a gun weighs the less recoil.
I will bet that this rifle has just about the same recoil as a Barrett .50 bmg.

Video of test firing it note how they have it on a swinging platform i would assume to reduce recoil and the fact that they fired it remotely (ie no person behind the trigger) but at 105 pounds its no light weight (70 pound barrel.....48 inches long) Guns.com...LinkQuite frankly i have never seen specs like that in what is appears to be a crew served sniper/anti material rifle i dont have the specs handy but i think it even out performs the .950 jdj(ironicly not a dd with apparent legit sporting purposes .....wonder how they pulled that off) and in my opinion is one of the more intimidating looking rounds i have seen

Anyone know if they have stealth pack mules now? well the sop weighs 105(protype) and the standard barret fifty weighs in at just under 30 pounds(the weight of the sop's stock lol) so yeah i would have to agree lugging this thing around would not be fun,but if you got into a good sniper spot overseeing an airfeild you could take a few out on the ground so to speak.but i see it more as a base defense weapon, something that you would only want to move once or twice. But if carlos hathcock was still around i bet he would love it.

I wonder what that would do to a plane or an armored vehicle. Can already imagine what it would do to a person.

yes you are correct that is just the projectile(the large one) with out case the diamater is in the same ball park as the 50-70 government cartridge(14.4) just just looking at images of the two its the grains (weight of the bullet) that seems to be the biggest difference between this and anything i can recall off the top of my head. for the old video game nerds from the late 90's it reminds me of what i pictured the ghosts from star craft shooting. en.wikipedia.org... anti tank round that seems somewhat comparable but that is for anti material/tank and anti aircraft guns and even it looks a bit tiny compared to the 14.9mm

Like all previous " super sniper " rifles - this is a weapon with no really military purpose.
