I'm going to stay on the fence on this one. I agree that 'Apollo 20' footage that spread around was corny....no soundtrack, except for the requisite "beeps" to make it sound 'spacy'....and the 'Mona Lisa' was laughable.
I also agree with a post mentioning museums here on earth that have examples of the Saturn V that were intended for 18-20...mostly built, not finished when funding was yanked. (Go to the KSC in Florida, very impressive).
Having said that, yes it's unlikely Vandenberg could be used for a Lunar launch...but there are stories of Air Force launch facilities in the Pacific Ocean...Micronesia, Wake Island, ets. Far from prying eyes....
Who knows where the truth lies. (Hah! An oxymoron, that was...)

These are the right questions !! Thumb up !! And let me guess, there where no answers at all.
No ones able too prepare and launch a Saturn V Rocket without beeing noticed by someone ! At high times there were almost 300.000 People involved in the project apollo. Where they all dazzled ? I dont think so ! To be honest, i think that all of that "post apollo 17" myths are a whole lot of crap But thats only my opinion

You do realize Apollo 19 never happened, right? The mission was canceled on September 2, 1970.

You do realize Apollo 19 never happened, right? The mission was canceled on September 2, 1970. Apollo 18 wasn't a myth! I was just a kid in the 1970s constantly being told by the media and some aspects of the education system that nuclear bombs would be dropping out of the skies over the UK at any moment. Russia, the nasty communist soviets, were the enemy. Therefore it was a complete surprise to find that in 1975 Apollo 18, commanded by Tom Stafford, and Soyus 19, commanded by Alexei Leonov, docked and shook hands and basically had a fine old time. What agreement were they really shaking hands on? What was the deal? Was it the joint American/Russian led Apollo 19 and 20 missions? If nothing more comes of this I would really like to know how cold the Cold War really was?

I do know a bit about rockets (although I am not a rocket scientist), and to get to the moon at the time stated, one would of needed a Saturn V rocket to get the moon capsule there. The Atlas rockets would of been too small. The information coming out from the Apollo XIX and XX theorists is they were launched at Vandenburg AFB. There is a decent population around that area, even at the time of the launch. Many people would of noticed, especially night workers.
Thousands of workers, including the logistics workers would have to of been in on this. It is possible to keep it a secret (they did with developing the atomic bomb), but they would have had to launch it somewhere desolate.

Yeh, I hear you, but knowing that the people who lived around Vandenburg were used to rockets taking off from this base which were launching spy satellites I believe right into the early 1990s- would there be a descernable difference between the spy launching rockets and the Saturn 5? Would it have been that noticable?

Why are no one commenting on the link to the bio of Rutledge that can be found on the official Air Force web page. Says nothing about the Apollo mission, but he was a pilot and he is old enough too. The guys has a Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the highest honor given in peace time which is presented for exceptionally distinguished performance of duty contributing to national security or defense of the United States, that may be the kind of medal someone would get for landing on the moon in secret...

If this is the guy, why does no one in the US from the forums just call him up and ask him about this stuff? You DO have phonebooks over there, dont you? Sounds pretty easy too me, the guy is still alive according to his bio...
